One of our favorite past times here at Frock Flicks HQ is to take a glance at the search terms that people use to land on our website. Not surprisingly, a lot of it is searching for a specific film or actor, but quite a few searches are a good bit more bewildering, esoteric, or just downright weird. But we love a good challenge, and we’re helpers, so every so often we compile these search terms and take a stab at answering them as best we can. You can read the previous installments of this series here, here, here, here, and here.
catherine likes younger boys (2019)
Which Catherine? of Aragon? Deneuve? the Great? Parr? Zeta-Jones?

ttrystan.l tits
Alright, looking for NSFW images of your Frock Flicks writers/editor is just not something we encourage around here. That being said, she DID write the post/coin the phrase, “I don’t care if it’s historically accurate, I just want my tits out“…
are skirt hikes historically accurate
It’s all about WHEN and HOW. If you’re going up (or sometimes down) stairs, sure, a gentle lift is practical. If you’re outside and you’re stumbling over rocks and streams, you might want to watch your feet and keep your hem clean. But otherwise? NO — as we’ve clearly ranted about.
My least favorite is the giant mid-19th century hoop, held up by one hand. When did this become a trope?

did mel gibson wear a wig in braveheart/was mel gibson’s hair real in braveheart
I’m sorry to say, but I used my librarian skills to research this, and yes, Gibson wore a wig in Braveheart (1995), despite many articles claiming it was extensions. In the book Directors Close Up, Gibson himself wrote, “They had to sew this damn thing into my head every day, not a brain, but the wig.”

use the fucking google
Well, and books with pictures! But, yes. Let’s all do our research! Hey, we have started including a JustWatch app at the bottom of each post so hopefully we get fewer “where can I watch this?” questions!
unexplored heilly naked
I’m SHOCKED to tell you that “heilly” does indeed turn up on our site! Anne de Pisseleu d’Heilly, Duchess of Étampes, mistress of François I. She turns up in The Serpent Queen (2022), but I can’t remember if she ever gets naked? We also reference her portrait in our reviews of The Other Boleyn Girl (2003) and Anne of the Thousand Days (1969). Now I’m wondering where else she has been on screen (no doubt in weird French productions?) and if she’s worthy of a WCW (as I love writing those).

was teddy warwick autistic
Using The Google (see what I did there?) I believe we’re referring to Edward Plantagenet, 17th Earl of Warwick (1475-99), potential claimant to the English throne during the reigns of Richard III and Henry VII. He was imprisoned at age 10, and executed after trying to escape about 14 years later. Y’all can tell me if he showed up in a recent film being portrayed as autistic? I can just tell you he’s been seen on screen in a Philippa Fucking Gregory adaptation, The White Princess (2017).

grommets meaning clothing
They mean you’re showing off yer undies!
colm meaney the last of the mohicans
What HASN’T Colm been in? I can only tell you what he HAS been in, which yes, includes The Last of the Mohicans (1992)!

catherine the great pee scene
This is another The Great thing, isn’t it? Sadly that’s one of the many shows I gave up on.

dick (film)
While you probably mean the (excellent) film about former Vice President Dick Cheney, there aren’t enough men getting their wang out in frock flicks! Here’s a few:

Got any other dicks to report from frock flicks? Let us know!
val kilmer long hair
Oh my GOD my 13-year-old crush on Val with long, dark hair in fantasy film Willow (1988):

did people poop in versailles
I sure hope so!
tiaraporn
Yay, we have a tag for that!

was isabella of castile beautiful
Probably not? You be the judge:

Although, “attractive” by historical royalty standards was a low bar. Consider her son-in-law, “Philip the Handsome“:

I recently read that Queen Henrietta Maria had teeth that stuck out “like guns from a fort” (per Sophia of Hanover), but sadly we don’t ever get to see that (isn’t there a caricature out there somewhere??). I want more wonky royals!

how much of wolf hall is true
Tough one! A lot of it, but author Hilary Mantel’s interpretations are up for debate. To quote from the excellent book, The Creation of Anne Boleyn, “Ignoring the fact that Cromwell and Anne had many of the same religious commitments for most of Anne’s reign, Mantel paints Anne through Cromwell’s eyes as a predatory calculator, brittle, anxious, and cold — a view that Cromwell is unlikely to have held during the period that Wolf Hall takes place.” So, take most motivations and a few events with a grain of salt?
It does have DAMN fine costumes, from a historical accuracy standpoint, however.

Keep doing your crazy searches, kids!

I may occasionally spell something wrong in the search bar, but I’ve got nothing on these. :)
