BBC’s miniseries Prince Regent (1979) has clearly fallen off the radar, so much so that it’s not even available for streaming (but you can find it for free on a possibly-questionable site via a Google video search). Nonetheless, it’s a solid, traditional bio-series about an inherently hilarious person, and the costumes (by Raymond Hughes) are quite good — as one would expect from the BBC!
We pick up from my previous post, and now enter 1795, the era in which Prinny is forced to marry Princess Caroline of Brunswick. In this version, Caroline is definitely uncouth and possibly slutty but also appropriately offended by just how rude George, Prince of Wales, is to her. Meanwhile, George is aging, carrying on with mistress Lady Jersey, and finagling to get former mistress/morganatic wife Maria Fitzherbert to resume their relationship.
Once again, some random thoughts on the costumes!

The final episodes get really into Officially Regency(TM) costuming. Shockingly, I found things to talk about, so keep your eyes peeled for two more posts on this series!
What’s your thoughts on Prince Regent‘s 1790s costumes?
I really like these! This looks like it would be a series I would love to watch!
1790s fashion really is my jam! I don’t understand why this era is underrated!
Courtesy of a curiosity inspired by this article I have just learned that the actress who played Princess Caroline was named ‘Dinah Stabb’.
Thank You author, thank you history and thank you Mr & Mrs Stabb for having blessed us all with such a delightful name.
I truly and deeply hope this was the young lady’s birth name, because it wouod be heartbreaking to think this was a mere stage name (However delightfully-apt to the Eighteenth Century).
