Costume Couture: 60 Years of Cosprop Exhibit, Part 2

Costume Couture: 60 Years of Cosprop Exhibit

Recently, I had the pleasure of seeing the Costume Couture: Sixty Years of Cosprop exhibit at the Fashion and Textile Museum, open through March 8, 2026 (then it’s going to Edinburgh’s Dovecot Studios in July 2026). Cosprop is the legendary costume-making house founded in 1965 by John Bright, and you probably know their work best for the Merchant-Ivory style of historical costume movies. Bright co-designed many of those films with costume designer Jenny Beavan.

This small exhibit is JAM-PACKED with hundreds of costumes from films and TV shows that Cosprop has created for, and that includes so many favorites — A Room With a View, Howards End, Downton Abbey, Gentleman Jack, Tess, Jefferson in Paris, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Out of Africa, etc., etc. Once I started going through my photos, I realized this was way too much for one post, so I have to spread the pix out over a few posts. Catch up with part one, and now buckle up for part two, and then you’ll have to wait for the third!

Do you want to read all of this review (with about 2,625 words and over 100 images) from the 60 Years of Cosprop Exhibit? The full post is available on Patreon for our subscribers! Check it out here. We’ll make this post available to everyone one year from today. Until then, only Patreon subscribers can view it!
