Miss Scarlett in Miss Scarlett and the Duke isn’t a widow; she’s unmarried.
Do watch The English Game. It is more about the individuals, rather than the game. In my opinion, Miss Scarlet and The Duke is a bit of a yawnfest. I only watched it for the Man Candy that is Stuart Martin. When he exited the series, so did I.
For the record I’m no kind of football fanatic and I found THE ENGLISH GAME an intriguing study of how the ‘Beautiful Game’ and those who play it, those who follow it and those that profit from it have (and have not) changed in over a century and a half.

Yes, “Football”, it’s the game where you use your feet for 90% of play, not the variation on Rugby in which actually hoofing the ball is so rare that you can actually have a ‘designated kicker’.
I’m not a Fanatic, but I’m not completely indifferent…
Agree re: Miss Scarlett—I’m absolutely the target audience but I can watch whole seasons without remembering a single plot point. I can’t really pinpoint what makes it so boring to me!
Also, I’m not surprised that Ms. Phillips has a CV with far more Frock Flicks than modern dress – she’s got one of those faces that never seem quite ‘Now’, but are otherwise impossible to pin down to an single era.
Oh I’m so happy to see this! I may be in the minority, but I absolutely love Miss Scarlet, and I’ve been dying to hear your take on the costumes. (I think they’re neat, accurate, but boring for the most part.)
I didn’t know this actress had appeared in so many things I’ve seen. I only recognize her in Miss Scarlet. She has a very strange red evening dress in the current season–the v-neck in front and back is just filled in with black lace, and I’d love to hear some analysis on this!
It’s only a matter of time before she gets cast in a Roman Period drama.
Her soft features and Blond hair almost makes me think she was birthed from a Bottecelli canvas.
Loving the new season of Miss Scarlet. I was afraid the show would change too much with the duke gone. It changed for the better, love Inspector Blake!
I am also loving Miss Scarlett without the Duke, but please more Nash and Eliza!
Sorry, I was shocked the Duke did not return. I am in the U.S. and was not aware. Loved the chemistry between them and love his acting. I thought they were going to move on to more excitement between their characters, career wise and romantically. Don’t know how I feel about the 5th Season.
She was in Poldark as well.
