Yes, ok, so it’s not a traditional Man Candy Monday, but when have I ever let that sort of thing stop me?
Starring Henry Cavill and Cary Elwes, both MCM alumni, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024) is based on the Special Operations Executive (SOE), a secret WWII organization formed by Winston Churchill, and directed by one of my guilty-pleasure directors, Guy Ritchie. Allegedly, the film is based on Churchill’s Secret Warriors: The Explosive True Story of the Special Forces Desperadoes of WWII by Damien Lewis, and given the shenanigans the Brits and the Americans both got up to during the war, I’m hesitant to say that this is more, ahem, embellished than what actually happened. I will say that it looks pretty freaking entertaining, and I’m here for it.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024) drops on April 17, 2024. I’ll be watching, will you?
Why yes, I will, in fact watch anything with this man in it.
Cary Elwes is aging like fine wine don’t you think? Strange how some men get hotter with the years.
The UK seems to have a number of stunning African actors. How about a movie or series set in Africa to showcase them?
Cary Elwes started out hot. He maintains his standards. I’ll be over here, fanning myself.
Why is Babs Olusanmokun covering his magnificent cheekbones with that beard? Wish he’d shave! This versatile actor also has a regular role on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Never heard of this movie until right now. YES, I plan to watch it!!
Babs Olusanmokun is also knocking it out of the park as Dr. M’Benga on Strange New Worlds. I’d watch this for him alone (of course, it has Cary Elwes so I’m doubly sold!)
My sister is freaking excited to see it for Henry Cavill alone.
Christopher Lee supposedly served as an ungentlemanly warrior, hence his knowledge of the sound a man makes when stabbed in the back. He told a story of his military days, he and another officer were escorting some very Bad Men and Lee was very on edge never taking his eyes off the prisoners, ready for anything.
I want you to imagine a young Christopher Lee, 6’4″, hatchet faced with that dark piercing eye fixed unwaveringly upon you, hand never far from his gun.
Lee heard later that the prisoners had complained of the psycho escort just waiting for excuse to shoot them.
Whoa, I’m imagining, I’m imagining, I’ll be in my bunk…….
😁
Babs Olusanmokun!!!!! I absolutely adore him in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds! He plays the doctor, and he is wonderful.
Oh, snap! For some reason, I just glazed over the non-historical roles on IMDB and missed that he’s the doctor on SNW! Now I know why he is so dang familiar!
Got all excited for this, and then I remembered they recently closed down our local movie theater to open up an indoor pickleball court. :(
