God, I wish I could just write a fluff post about episode 3 of The New Look (2024) Â like any other recap blog, because it would probably encompass this sentiment:Â JOHN MALKOVICH CHEWS HIS WAY THROUGH THE SCENERY OF ANOTHER EPISODE!
Instead, I am writing a post about the (very realistic, yet not exactly noteworthy) costumes in this show’s most recent episode. And you know what? That is to be expected! If you were like me and got all excited about the costumes about a show about Christian Dior, you may have expected a bit more costuming content! I do not fault you! But, alas, the show you’re watching is really about the occupation of France and, while that’s super interesting, you’re not going to get a lot of haute couture in the process.
By the end of the episode, France is liberated, and the costumes start to get interesting, so stay tuned for next week’s installment to start dissecting all of the yummy costume content!
Have you made it this far watching The New Look (2024)? Tell us about it in the comments!
I can’t stand Malkovich. He either chews the scenery or phones it in. His Klimt was awful.
His French accent is also terrible as well.
Hard agree on this! He ruins whatever movie he’s in for me. Plus he cannot do any other accent than his natural one.
The 1940s Victory Rolls for Catherine are on point!

Off topic, but your comment absolutely made my day. Happy learning!
I love Malkovich because you can tell how good a production is from his performance. He’s a kind of bellweather. If the production is generally good, he fits the part, works to make it good. If he’s bored, he goes into his furniture-chewing act.
