Age of Innocence was my intro to Frock Flicks, so it holds a special place in my heart. I will NOT be watching the remake (Or Portrait of A Lady, for that matter). :)

I was thinking of joining the Patreon at the high tier which allows someone to request a Frock Flick. Bad news, the Frock Flick (TV show in my case) iI had in mind doesn’t seem to be streaming anywhere. Good news, I have back up, much easier to find Frock Flicks I can ask for.
Not being able to find the show is such a problem! There’s a lot of stuff I want to do a deep-dive on but if I can’t make the screenshots, there’s no point.
Has anyone seen Billie Eillish in costume on the Bell Jar set? I think she looks decent. The bar is low, admittedly!
So I saw The Odyssey today! After all the hype and chin-stroking/click-baiting discourse, I thought it was a bit of a mixed bag (part stylized theatrical mythological epic in the mould of Immortals or 300 or Dune, part “mud and blood and guts and swearing” “dark fantasy/history”, part Modern Take On The Classic). Probably not much to discuss costume-wise – I understand it’s a bit of an anachronism stew when it comes to the clothes, armour, ships etc. (which is fine if the intention was to go stylized and allegorical rather than “historically accurate”).
I liked The Odyssey, and agree that it is very stylized in its presentation of the epic tale, so not really FF fare. One thing that distracted me a bit were the holes in Charlize Theron’s earlobes! You’d think that after living on a desert island for years, Calypso’s piercings would have would have closed up. :P
Hack fraud and misogynistic bigot costume designer Jean Pierre Dorleac died last week amd hes been exposed as his entire career being a sham. His entire presence was based on a lie! Theres an expose called ‘The Man Who Would Be Dorleac’. Even his name was fake, it was actually Jerry Paine.
He had no university degrees, was not mentored by any costume designer (definitely not Edith Head who he never met!), but lied like crazy to get his career off the ground. No wonder his costumes for The Rebels/The Bastard were so crap! And no wonder he was such a pretentious pseud (he was in the Air Force amd did community theatre). What a joke!

Haha yes! I remember this! Didn’t he actually send a harassing email to your site once, cos I saw a post about and it had the absolute same writing style as him. He actually did that a LOT with bloggers.

I was pleasantly surprised that the historical flashback to 1702 on episode 6 of Widow’s Bay had pretty good lower/middle class Puritan costumes, although there were some missing hairpins
Yet another Jane Austen adaptation with no hair clips or sense of the novels and period.
This may be out of left field, but I enjoy documentaries especially about Great Britain an Europe. I just watched one entitled Mayhem on BBC about the four Georges. While the information imparted seemed plausible the costumes and make-up were distracting. There was a clear modern red lip that was nothing like what was available to stain your lips in the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. The clothes were badly fitted, there was the usual shortage of hair pins, and the wigs were so abysmal they were laughable. You all would be so disappointed. I just wish they would do a better job because it makes me wonder if they are really historically accurate. If you can’t get the clothing, hair and make-up correct are your historical facts in question?
