I’ve enjoyed watching Jane Adams in a diverse array of film and television roles since I first became aware of her in the 1990s. She’s one of those character actors who’s presence is always a pleasant surprise, so I thought we should take a look at some of her historical roles!
Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle (1994)
Kansas City (1996)
A Texas Funeral (1999)
Songcatcher (2000)
Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004)
Even though Jane Adams’ career has continued on in the last 20 years, it appears she hasn’t done any more historical pieces. So that’s it, for now!
Do you have a favorite role played by Jane Adams? Tell us in the comments!
She was apparently also in that HBO TV series Carnivale set during the 1930s.
Looking at her IMDB page she’s an uncredited “Mother of Dead Baby” so might be hard to find a pic of her from it.
My favorite from her is the non-frock flick Happiness (1998), even though it’s one of those movies you’re going to hell for laughing at and a great way to thin out your circle of friends.
I’ve tried to find Songcatcher after seeing it come up few different times on this blog…Looks good, plus the handsome Aiden Quinn!
Last I checked it was “currently unavailable” on prime for rental and I can’t find it anywhere else. Hopefully I’ll find it someday!
You’ll probably have to get it on DVD.
Songcatcher was awesome! Glad to see it getting some love.
