Peter Dinklage has been around for a lot longer than you may realize. He started off in theater before moving to film and TV, and most of his early work was about what you’d expect for a little person. After his raging success as Tyrion Lannister on HBO’s Game of Thrones, however, the roles opened up significantly and he’s been cast more and more as a leading man in films that span pretty much every genre, from comedy to drama, mysteries to science fiction, reality and fantasy. So, today we’re going to take a look at Dinklage’s frock flicks body of work!

Dinklage is another one that I will watch in just about anything because I like him so much. It’s not strictly historical because they did costumes that were sort of all over the place in terms of time periods, but his Malvolio in Twelfth Night is probably one of my top favorites for him though (available on PBS Great Performances!) And I’m excited to hear he’s going to be in the upcoming adaptation of King Lear, Lear Rex (directed Bernard Rose of Candyman and Immortal Beloved).
Those eyes, that voice. Even my Sheffield-born husband admitted that Dinklage’s British accent in GoT was “quite acceptable.”
I can’t believe I missed Three Christs — some of my all-time favorite character actors in this (Dinklage, Walton Goggins, Stephen Root, Bradley Whitford) as well as a great director.
I’m taking this as a reminder to watch Cyrano.
Wait, he’s been around since BEFORE the bitter end of the Age of Chivalry? I thought his people were German, not HIGHLANDERS!
