It goes without saying that we here at Frock Flicks are big fans of Drunk History (2013-19) both since its debut as a web series for Funny or Die, and then later when it was polished up by Comedy Central and became a regular series, since it’s sort of on par with what we used to do with the podcast (remember the podcast?) and on this here site.
For those who have yet to enjoy DH’s brand of boozy history hot takes, the gist of the show relies on getting someone (sometimes famous, sometimes a subject matter expert, sometimes just a random person) drunk off their tits and recite their favorite historical anecdote. The show then cuts away to actors (usually famous; could be anyone from Weird Al to Kirsten Dunst) who lip sync the drunken history lesson to hysterical effect. It can get pretty unhinged, but it’s always funny, so I decided that we should honor one of Drunk History‘s frequent fliers, the equally unhinged and funny Jack Black who has appeared on the show since the early web days.
Benjamin Franklin in “Benjamin Franklin’s Kite Experiment” (2007)

Elvis Presley in “Washington, D.C.” (2013)

Orson Welles in “Hollywood” (2014)

William Mulholland in “Los Angeles” (2015)

Vincenzo Peruggia in “Heists” (2018)

I somehow missed Dave Grohl the first time I saw the Elvis segment (my favorite, BTW). Probably too busy staring at Jack Black’s wig. :)
I LOVE Drunk History!! Thanks for posting this!
I would pay money to see Mr Black pay Benjamin Franklin – or a sufficiently recognisable pastiche thereof – if only to see how cross Mr Billy Bob Thornton (Who purportedly believes to be the reincarnation of Doctor Franklin) becomes on seeing somebody who OBVIOUSLY looks more like Paul Revere beat him to the punch.
That Billy Bob Thornton lore drop is both unhinged and also completely makes sense for him. I too, want the stars to align and this to happen because that production would be a gem!
