  1. Do you think you’ll ever review Greta Gerwig’s version of “Little Women”? The movie itself is pretty to look at, and it got tons of accolades, but it definitely suffers from the Great Hairpin Shortage!
And I can’t wait for you to review season 4 of Bridgerton!

  2. Anybody been watching Bridgerton? There’s a short scene where they show Sophie with what appear to be an attempt at half stays! Over a shift!!!

Granted, the “half stays” have boning and clearly are not being worn under the dress we see her in next, but still, it’s lightyears better than Penelope dressed in 18th century stays with no shift (gag) in S3.

  3. Did anybody watch American Horror Story: Hotel/1984! PTSD from the mid-1980s pastel windbreakers/ Workout uniforms! I loved the 1920s flashbacks in Haunted House/ Hotel! Lady Gaga really fit the 1920s Aesthetic!

  4. I’m just preparing for my heights to get wuthered, especially after reading yesterday’s Guardian article:

“The director also spoke about the background behind the set design in the film, revealing that the wallpaper in Cathy’s bedroom was inspired by images of Robbie’s skin.

“We asked her to send us all her veins and her freckles, and then we printed it on silk and stuffed it and put latex over it so that it could sweat,” she said. “At first glance, you don’t see any of it, it’s just a beautiful pink room.”

I don’t even know what to say after that, just…..why?

  5. My mother was a huge fan of regency romances. When she passed I was left with baskets of paperback books and decided to look through some of them out of curiosity. As a result I came across something that might help explain why we see Hessian boots on nearly every man in every situation wearing them in current productions even when they are totally inappropriate. I can tell you how many times the hero is described in shining Hessians, nor how often they are described as the hero disrobes. “The sound of his boots hitting the floor as he disrobed.” We have been conditioned to expect them in our films as they are something considered particularly masculine. Thoughts?

    1. The boots-hitting-the-floor thing has a certain menacing charm. It’s easy to forget how important sound effects are. (In the original “The Haunting,” the fear is all conveyed by sound, along with the occasional shock cut or terrified facial expression; there is no visual horror per se.)

  6. Would Any Of You Consider Reviewing A Brazilian Production??? I can recommend A bunch Of Gorgeous Period Dramas we produced here in My Country! I guess I Would Start with something whose The source material you all are familiar With: Dangerous Liaisons (2016) same story only set in Brazil During The 1920s

      1. Considering how those things change from country to country I really have no way to know what you in the USA can watch from here though 🫤 unless you all can download Torrents, then I’ll know what to recommend!

  7. Thank you for Snark Week! It was great. I just watched the new Kiss of the Spiderwoman movie which has some good vintage movie musical sections in amongst the grittier prison scenes. I also saw the single (?) episode Muppet Show reboot and Miss Piggy looked great, as usual! She had a fun Bridgerton outfit, a Greek look, and a Hollywood glamour satin robe and turban.

  8. I’ve just been watching CrowsEyesProductions “Getting Dressed” series on Youtube again and I’m blown away all over again. I highly recommend them if you haven’t seen them already.

  9. I just started watching The Lady’s Companion on Netflix. It”s a pure delight! The costumes are confections, and the humor is so funny! I hope you will all check it out and that FF will review it!

    1. Well, I watched the entire 8 episode season which left me longing for Season 2 only to.find that TPTB a Netflix CANCELED IT!! I’m left angry and so frustrated! There are so many loose ends to explore, and I was really looking forward to how some of the dramas would end up. I pray that another production company may pick it up, but I’m not holding my breath. Damn you Netflix– this was SO MUCH BETTER than Bridgerton. 😡
