Tessa Thompson is an absolutely magnetic actor, and I could watch her in anything. Most of the frock flicks listed here, I’ve specifically watched because of her and I do need to catch up on her non-historical roles. She’s done everything from play super hero Valkyrie in Marvel movies to perform in Janelle Monáe music videos. Let’s hope she keeps taking on historical costume roles too!
Wilhemina ‘Billie’ Doucette in “Best Friends,” Cold Case (2005)

Sara Freeman in Copper (2012-13)

Diane Nash in Selma (2014)

Eartha Kitt in “Fame,” Drunk History (2019)

Sylvie Parker in Sylvie’s Love (2020)

Irene in Passing (2021)

Hedda Gabler in Hedda (2025)

What’s your favorite Tessa Thompson role?

Loved both her and Negga in “Passing,” and now I wish it had been filmed in color. (My favorite T.T. hairstyle is definitely Sylvie’s pixie cut.)
I didn’t realize she was in Copper. I saw all of Season 1, but it was so grimdark, I didn’t bother watching Season 2.
I love Kennedy era Early ’60s fashion, so Sylvie’s Love is naturally right up my alley!
I loved her in Hedda. Forgot that she was in that Cold Case ep, she was good in it
Tessa Thompson as Earth Kitt as Catwoman?
PUNCHES THE AIR –
Now THAT is how you swing from a Marvel to a DC!
…
I’m not the only one wondering who gets to play BATMAN ‘66 and the rest of the crew in an actual theatrical short based on that really, really fun casting call, am I?
No, you’re not. Bill Saarsgard as Frank Gorshin/Riddler was the first that came to mind. Not sure who else, but I like your idea. Thompson looked amazing as Eartha Kitt.
