Sometimes you just want to look at pretty things, and that’s why I’ve saved a bunch of pretty pix from the too-short run of Harlots (2017-19). Those three seasons packed in a lot of lovely dresses, because whores need to look good, right? Sure, plenty of the frocks were recycled costumes, which makes sense given the size of the cast, but even the reused gowns were sometimes zhuzhed up or accessorized differently.
Costume designers Edward K. Gibbon, Charlotte Mitchell, and Richard Cooke each contributed to the look of this series. Let’s just indulge in some of the 18th-century eye candy they created!
There was Charlotte Wells (Jessica Brown Findlay), who wore some of the flashiest and prettiest dresses, IMO.
Proving that an older lady can have style, Lydia Quigley didn’t disappoint.
She wasn’t the only madame in town with style — Elizabeth Harvey upped the game.
Lady Isabella Fitzwilliam brought upper-class glam.
And then the rest of the cast in their finery…
Do you miss the eye-candy of Harlots?

This was my frock flick gateway show! I didn’t know much about the fashions when I first watched it, but I fell in love with the costumes.
I know the colors used aren’t exactly historically accurate for this era (so much hot pink!) but I think it’s a case of “if these colors had been available, people definitely would’ve worn them”
I’m ashamed to say I haven’t seen “Harlots,” but obviously must remedy that–that hair! The colors! The struttiness of it all!
I remember feeling drawn to this show because of the beautiful costumes! But I only made it like three episodes and it was just too violent for me.
Sigh. I still miss this show.
