I mentioned my recent London trip where I saw the Marie-Antoinette Style exhibit at the V&A Museum. Now let’s take a look at the real goldmine for frock flickers: the Costume Couture: Sixty Years of Cosprop exhibit at the Fashion and Textile Museum, open through March 8, 2026, and then going to Edinburgh’s Dovecot Studios in July 2026! Cosprop is the legendary costume-making house founded in 1965 by John Bright, and you probably know their work best for the Merchant-Ivory style of historical costume movies. Bright co-designed many of those films with costume designer Jenny Beavan.
This small exhibit is JAM-PACKED with hundreds of costumes from films and TV shows that Cosprop has created for, and that includes so many favorites — A Room With a View, Howards End, Downton Abbey, Gentleman Jack, Tess, Jefferson in Paris, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Out of Africa, etc., etc. Once I started going through my photos, I realized this was way too much for one post, so I have to spread the pix out over a few posts. Even so, this will be a long one, so buckle up!

just FYI – there is a book on 50 years of Cosprop, and the V&A had a talk (virtual and live!) w John Bright which was so interesting.
There was also a talk from a monthly 19th c group, I’ll check if the YouTube link has been posted.
There was mention of the exhibit traveling to this side of the pond!
I did get the book, but was so bummed to miss the V&A talk!
Thanks, Trystan. Damn! I’ll just miss it when I go to England this March.
