Christopher Nolan’s much anticipated biopic Oppenheimer (2023) opens nationwide in the US today and so I thought it would be terribly au courant of us to take a first look at the film, which packs an atomic punch of starpower: Cillian Murphy stars as the eponymous J. Robert Oppenheimer, flanked by other luminaries such as Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., and Kenneth Branagh. Ellen Mirojnick (of Bridgerton fame, among many others) designed the costumes, which are tightly centered around the year 1942 — when Oppenheimer was recruited to spearhead the Manhattan Project by the U.S. Government and set us up the bomb.
Thankfully, there are a couple of female characters and their outfits look really interesting (in a good way).
This promises to be the first World War 2 film I’ve actually looked forward to seeing since Jojo Rabbit (2019).
Are you going to see Oppenheimer (2023) this weekend? Tell us about it in the comments!
I really wanted to see it, but at 3 hrs it’s a little long. I guess I’ll wait until it comes on streaming. :)
I did see it and have very mixed feelings about it.
(I’ve tried commenting before and it isn’t allowing me to comment, so I’m waiting to see if that has changed before posting more).
We’re still working on security settings w/our webhost after the hacking problem earlier this month. It’s been a struggle.
